Stephanie and Kevin were a young couple both in their 20s. Neither had been married before. Stephanie’s parents owned a very successful business and when Stephanie and Kevin got engaged Stephanie owned two properties outright which had been gifted to her by her parents. Stephanie was gifted the properties before her and Kevin started dating. Both Stephanie and Kevin were in settled, well-paid jobs and they had found a house that they were planning on moving in to once they were married. They had jointly saved for a deposit and had secured a joint mortgage on the property. Stephanie wanted to protect the properties that were gifted to her by her parents in the event of divorce. Kevin had no issue with this whatsoever.
A pre-nuptial agreement on the basis of Stephanie’s instructions. Kevin was represented by another firm of solicitors. We sent the draft agreement to Kevin’s solicitors who confirmed that they were satisfied with the contents of same and arrangements were made for the parties to sign the agreement in the presence of their respective solicitors. Each party received a copy of the agreement and our office retained the original agreement on file. The parties were very pleased with the outcome of their instructions and were then able to turn their attentions fully to the exciting prospect of planning their wedding.
